Well, I had both. Went on an Emmaus Walk, so didn't have the cell phone.

Look up Luke 24:13-24.
Walk to Emmaus is a Christian retreat of sorts. You spend 72 hours on a journey toward a closer walk with God. The focus is on a walk of grace and service ... I've been part of it since 2006. It changed my life!
You're not supposed to have watches and cell phones in the conference room. So I followed the rules. I did check it at other times which I really shouldn't have done, but you know ...

Sounds like you had a worthwhile time and a bit of spiritual renewal. I don't suppose any of the other participants happened to be regular church-goers? How could you possibly have a spiritual retreat with a bunch of church-goers? When did going to church become a vice? Oops. Are these the type of questions that must never be asked?

Actually, WTE is very pro-church. Its stated intention is to train servant leaders for the Body of Christ. Most of the leaders of Emmaus are leaders in their local congregations. I think it is there that I learned to be more supportive of my local church ...

I think it is there that I learned to be more supportive of my local church ... I'm sorry my sarcasm didn't quite come through I guess. I know from what you've said about it before that the organization is very pro-church and that most of the participants are faithful church-goers. But as you know, that alone would be ground to discredit them among some circles.

There are some who have a problem with going to ANY congregation. Church or Synagogue... they don't discriminate in their self-centeredness.
